Can we talk about this part of this tragic conversation and how it broke my heart?
Innocent, naive, and dare I say “blond” Lucy thinks that what she feels is natural and that Mina is actually confessing her love when she says “And I you”. Look at the love and hope in her eyes. The way she gently caresses her face as she looks into her eyes. The way she tenderly and sincerely says that she loves Mina. It’s heartbreaking… Here she is, in a time where what she is feeling is forbidden to feel, for a brief second, she feels that everything is right in the world. That what she is feeling is natural.
We don’t know much about Lucy’s life growing up, but we can conclude that the fact that Jayne pulled a “didn’t your mother ever tell you” that she must have grown up with mother, and maybe parent issues. Perhaps Mina is the only person that has been there for her? Either way it’s heart breaking to see a woman who would go as far as plan the wedding of woman she loves, get emotionally abused and later manipulated because she is afraid of what she is.
It’s Morgana all over again.. lol
How about we forget the pain and just pretend that they are engaged and going to be married and that this is just another evening in the Westenray home, kissing each other good night.
It can be that simple.
So after last night’s episode I went on the NBC Dracula facebook page to see if there were any negative homophobic reactions to Lucy’s love confesssion to Mina aND ONE OF THE FIRST COMMENTS I SAW WAS THIS ONE!
